WORK LIFE BALANCE
The Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023 was signed into law in April 2023. The majority of its provisions require implementing regulations prior to coming into effect.
From 3 July 2023, a new leave for medical care purposes and additional protections under maternity protection legislation is available. Further details are in our briefing (here).
Next steps will be the introduction of domestic violence leave, the right to request remote working and the right to request flexible working arrangements for carers and parents. Further details on these aspects of the 2023 Act are set out in our earlier briefing (here).
The Government has indicated that domestic violence leave will come into force in Autumn 2023. It has also announced that employees who avail of domestic violence leave will be entitled to full pay, as outlined further in our briefing here.
The other two “rights to request” will be commenced following the publication of separate Codes of Practice that will contain further necessary detail and guidance on the parameters of these rights.
