SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS IMPACT REPORT 2021 / 2022
Conclusion
At Arthur Cox, sustainability is at front and centre of our business. Our focus continues to be on building a long-term sustainable business for our people, our clients and the community where we operate.
While we are proud of the progress we have made over the past 12 months, we know that we have much more to do. We look forward to refining and improving our strategies for each of our sustainability pillars, mindful of the evolving hybrid working environment that we now operate in.
We are keen to establish future partnerships with charities who have the capacity to involve our staff in more interactive fundraising and volunteering activities. We recognise that the ability to engage both in-person and online activities will be key to the success of our future campaigns. We welcome the return of in-person physical events and activities, but we also acknowledge that this may not always be the best option and we will continue to explore all avenues to provide our people and our charity and volunteering partners with optimal opportunities.
We want to continue to deliver responsive and impactful pro bono projects in partnership with our NGO partners. We believe it is important to support the growth of pro bono work in Ireland as we address the most pressing needs in society.
We are committed to evolving our workplace so that all of our people feel supported and engaged in a work environment that works for them. We are determined to develop a more diverse and inclusive culture as we truly believe that this will help us deliver a better service to our clients while also making our firm a more interesting and rewarding place to work.
Our commitment to the environment is a key part of our Sustainable Business programme. We know that by being active and responsible citizens, we can make our firm even stronger. Over the past 12 months we have taken huge strides on our journey, particularly in relation to external accountability and reporting. We will continue to set targets and work towards meeting and exceeding these where possible. We also want to expand our processes for examining supplier credentials. We have begun this process this year but we plan to expand this further. Internally we have strongly encouraged our people to think about how they too as individuals can contribute to a better environment via travel reduction, changes in consumer habits and education in relation to biodiversity. Our plan for the next 12 months is to improve our education programme and introduce more activities for our people that will help us realise the part we can all play in creating an improved environment – not just as a business but as individuals too.
We are committed to continuous progress that is measured and tracked to ensure that we are playing our part in a better, more sustainable future for all. Over the next 12 months we strive to make a real impact across all our work within the community through our pro bono work, our partnerships with charities, volunteering organisations and also through our commitment to the environment. We will seek to improve engagement levels across all areas of our business and to ensure that everyone in our firm contributes to our goal of being a sustainable business leader in Ireland. We commit to playing our part in building a more sustainable future for all, to continuously look at ways that we can improve and develop our current programme, while ensuring we lessen our impact on the environment. We look forward to reporting on that progress in July 2023.
