Legacy Charity Partnerships
The firm also has longer-term relations with certain charities for legacy reasons. We are pleased to continue our support of Boardmatch, the only Irish charity that specialises in not-for-profit board recruitment, for another two years. Founded by the late Mary Redmond, a former partner at Arthur Cox, Boardmatch connects leading organisations with individuals who are interested in volunteering their skills for board vacancies. Over the past year many of our staff have completed the CPD approved Charity Trustee Governance Training course and through Boardmatch a number of our staff have joined the boards of some of the country's leading charity and not-for-profit organisations.
Eva Gurn, CEO Boardmatch
“Boardmatch is delighted to have Arthur Cox as a long-term partner. This partnership enables us to focus on what is important and what our purpose is: getting the right people on the right charity boards through a transparent and independent process. Breaking down the barriers and giving everyone access to have a voice at the charity board table ensures the correct skills are present to ensure the charity delivers maximum impact in their community or to their service users. The growth that Boardmatch has experienced over the last number of years is tremendous and is attributed to hard work, but also our partner Arthur Cox. In the last three years, the number of board appointments has increased by nearly 27% and the number of individuals completing training to ensure they can do the role has increased by 47%. This translates to stronger boards delivering vital services all over Ireland with more impact.”
The firm continues to be a long-term supporter of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA). We are now in year two of a three year commitment to the IMNDA – a legacy set up to honour our former colleague, Loretto Dempsey, who died in March 2017 after a bravely fought battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
We are also happy to continue our partnership with Rethink Ireland, as it finds and backs the most innovative solutions to Ireland’s most pressing social issues. Through our support of Rethink Ireland we help identify charities and social enterprises working in communities across the country who need resources to nurture their ideas so that they ultimately prove effective in their local communities.
SUPPORTING THE ARTS - CULTURAL PARTNERS
We recognise that the arts are a fundamental component of a healthy and sustainable community. That is why we continue to support our cultural partners: IMMA, the RHA, the National Concert Hall (NCH) and Business to Arts. In 2021 we began our sponsorship of the Business to Arts Awards and its ‘Best Large Sponsorship’ category. We are proud to have continued this sponsorship for 2022. The award celebrates a business or organisation that works with a not-for-profit or commercial arts organisation, venue or artist(s) in a sponsorship relationship.
