Volunteering

The firm has a long history of volunteering and this is a key part of the culture and life at Arthur Cox.

Over the past 12 months we have continued our long term volunteering partnerships with organisations such as The Early Learning Initiative, Special Olympics and St Vincent de Paul, while also introducing some new activities, particularly in relation to education. These have primarily been virtual volunteering opportunities this year, but we are pleased to have reintroduced a number of in-person volunteering activities and these opportunities have steadily increased in recent months.

HIGHLIGHTS

We firmly believe in access for all to education. An important part of our volunteering programme within the community is our relationships with organisations that specifically support educational development and benefit children and young adults – particularly those from a disadvantaged background, which is why we continue to support the Access Programmes with DCU, UCC and TCD.

OTHER VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES

We were also pleased to continue our virtual volunteering programme with Age Action this year. Our volunteers committed their time to the Keep In Touch (KIT) programme – a virtual volunteering programme where our staff were partnered with older people in the community to bring them up to speed on basic technologies that helped them to stay in touch with their friends and families during the pandemic. Having initiated the firm’s Fit4Feb Challenge in 2021, the firm’s Volunteering Committee organised the second annual challenge in February 2022. This month long challenge motivated staff, encouraged more virtual collaboration and promoted the importance of staying fit and getting regular exercise while working from home. It is a fun way to stay connected with colleagues, meet new staff members both virtually and in-person outside of the usual day to day work environment over an intensely competitive four weeks while also raising much needed funds for our three charity partners.
